Visit to the Mosque in Colchester,Vermont
for `Eid al-Fitr, Last Week of August

The media is full of negative images of Muslims and misinformation about Islam. One way to address this problem is for non-Muslims and Muslims to have the opportunity to get to know each other.

To that end, You’re invited to visit the Mosque in Colchester, VT at the end of Ramadan, which this year will be at the end of August. For Muslims, Ramadan is a month of fasting. A celebration called `Eid al-Fitr marks the end of this holy month. During this time, non-Muslims are especially welcome to come and visit. This potluck meal will be an opportunity for conversation, sharing food, having fun and building friendships between Muslims and non-Muslims.

There will be representatives from various UU and other congregations. The hope and intention is that some of those who attend will offer an Adult Religious Education Program at their home congregations about what they learned about Islam during their visit.

The exact date of the `Eid al-Fitr celebration has not yet been set.

This program is being organized by PeaceBridge, a project of the Washington UU Church dedicated to cultivating friendship and understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims. This project is funded in part by a grant from the Fund for Unitarian Universalist Social Responsibility.

If You are interested in participating, please sign up on the clipboard in the sanctuary or contact Rev. M’ellen Kennedy at mellenken@aol.com or 802-453- 5469.
